For all those taken aback by my last post where I said that Gnome was usable, I apologize and take back my words.
It wasn't long before the problems started surfacing. Sure, Ubuntu has done well to make Gnome usable, but the problem is ... its still Gnome. Even if it is made usable, its not much good. 10 minutes into the session, Nautilus started crashing. That was enough of a hint to try out Kubuntu.
So, I did that, and now all is well. KDE is just so much better. It is much more responsive, and in by books, much cleaner as well.
So there it is - I'm back on Kubuntu and enjoying it.
