Last week I was at FOSS.in, Indias largest FOSS event. In terms of quality, the event was what I had expected it to be. This year I was not giving a talk. That takes away half the fun I guess, because the real conference happens after the official hours, during the dinners. Thats when you get to meet the whos who of the FOSS world. Missed out on that this time.
The conference as such was not very eventful. I had to spend a lot of time on phone for work purposes, something I tried to minimise, but could not completely avoid. The talks, I would say were of a pretty good quality and most of the speakers kept the audience interested. I participated in a couple of Lightning talks sessions and gave 3 minute talks on Qt and Ion. That was quite a bit of fun. So much to say, so little time ...
PLUG was also given a handled device to hack on. We spent a large part of the third day getting Linux up on it. Currently we installing the KDE desktop on it.
I also met up with Kartya, Gopal and Kanchi while I was in Bangalore. It was nice to catch up with them.
After the event I went to Delhi, to basically chill out. The flight kept on getting delayed. The 2330 landing time was eventually pushed to 0200 thanks to a radar that conveniently decided to stop functioning and much to the annoyance of Solzaire who was supposed to pick me up. For the next two days my dear bhabhiji and he (put the donkey last) played the good host and basically drove me around all over the place. One day was dedicated to a visit to the Taj Mahal. There will probably be a seperate blog post about it.
Didnt have too much time in Delhi, but whatever I had, I spent well in eating all the different things I could get my hands on. The biggest learning was that North Indian food in north India is very different from north Indian food you get in Pune.
And thus was a 7 day stay away from Pune. I really cant remember the last time I was away from Pune for so long. Sad :(
