You didn't go to USA?

"Didn't you ever think of going to USA?"
I've come across this question quite a few times. I never found it surprising when it came from people from an older generation. After all, they were the ones who taught us that imported means good and they were the ones who defined success in terms of acceptance by the americans.
I used to think that all that has changed, but I guess I was wrong. Here is a small transcript between me and a fellow who has just started his degree program in computer science -

Him: So I heard you started your own company?

Me: Yes.

Him: Ok ... no plans for post graduation?

Me: No, not in the near future.

Him: Hmmm, didn't you ever think of going to USA?

Me: No.

Him: Why?

Me: Why what?

Him: Why didn't you go the USA?

Me: Why should I go to USA?

At this point, he decided that the starters that were being served were more interesting than the conversation. I don't blame him :)

I'm not quite sure whether its something I should just laugh off or whether its something to be worried about. What bugs me most is why people cannot understand that I don't perceive going abroad and settling there as an obvious choice.
