Gold!

It has happened - finally. An Indian won a gold medal at the Olympic games and the whole country (well at least the proud ones) rejoiced and congratulated each other on the wonderful achievement.
Indeed a sad day in the history of the country! We have proved to ourselves how low we are on self esteem. It is a bit like celebrating a goal when you are 10-0 down already.
No doubt, a wonderful achievement by Abhinav Bindra, a truly great effort. I bow to him. But the success is his and his alone. Maybe the sponsors are to be thanked as well. But let us not convince ourselves that we deserve to rejoice as a nation. Let us not be hyenas and feast shamelessly on someone else's reward.
Congratulations to Abhinav Bindra. Shame on me as an Indian.
