The Life of a Hacker

Atul (The Shaolin) posted a poem on his blog titled - 'The Life of a Programmer'. You can read it here -

Here is my version - 'The Life of a Hacker'. I wrote this one to bring forth the two contrasting attitudes of people in the software industry.

I start my day by sitting on a chair,

Giving my console a nice warm stare.

By evening I'm done with some more hacking,

Oh! This life is getting so exciting.

Like many, I entered this world of hackerdom,

Opportunities are many and there is plenty of freedom.

Dreams of joining the likes of Stallman and Wall,

And to be hailed as hacker by one and by all.

Thus, I entered the world of bytes

And realised the reality of copyrights.

And that the world of patents isn't all that nice,

Behind the trademarks, lie deceit and lies.

Seeing beyond the monitor,

Bringing the processor to submission,

Such noble deeds

Only but expand your vision.

A free man am I,

Generosity and sharing have no ends,

Getting better by the day,

Making a lot of good friends.

In my playful hacks I spend a lot of time,

Coz not doing what you love is a big crime.

My soul is one with the machine, having fun,

With no one bossing me and telling what should be done.

Engrossed in Zen,

I hope to see the Tao,

The source shows the way,

I only follow.

KUDOS! is all I can say!!!
I believe this is your own poem, and said that I think you have an alternate job profile waiting :-)
The killer lines in your poem are:
"In my playful hacks I spend a lot of time,
Coz not doing what you love is a big crime."
Apparently reflceting your attitude towards life!

BTW, I forgot to mention that there's HELL LOT of a DIFFERENCE between a 'programmer' and a 'HACKER' and I crave to be the later!
