A footballing predicament

My goal scoring streak in the inter IT tournament has put me in a predicamennt. Basically because it hass ended. The balls that once sailed in are now hitting the post, the passes that came right to my feet are going a yard askew and the smoothly rolling ball that I once dispatched accurately now hits a bad spot on the ground just when I'm about to hit it. Not to mention that many balls that I ferociously hit head straight for the keeper. I've been wondering what has changed. The ground has changed. I must say that the ground on which the tournament was played was a much better one. The people with whom I play have changed. The position in which I play has changed. In the tournaments I played attacking centre midfield, by necessity. Now, I've gone back to the right wing. The ironic part is, myy team (whichever one it is) does much better with me on the wings. I guess the structure of the teams that I play for and against is very different to the one we had adopted during ...

Accident

Of late, I've got tired of answering the question "Where are your specs". Now I hope to just point to this URL. For the impatient, I broke it. In an accident. On my bike. For those who care more about me than my specs, I am perfectly fine and got away with a few scratches on the ankle. I was saved by the helmet when my head hit the road though. It's not my fault. It was raining (and now is certainly not the time for the rains) and the bike skidded when I braked. I let go of the bike and it ended a good 20 feet in front of me when everything came to a standstill. The bike suffered more damage than I did. The right mirror and the left fron indicator are broken (I know, wierd combination). But I'm alive and kicking (not the bucket). Hope to do some kicking over the weekend. Hope junta turns up at Univ United.
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perenn...
MURPHY'S AVALANCHE Here is an addition - When something can go wrong, it will. And then along with it, everything else will. This is Murphy's avalanche law. Sigh. I hate such days.
"Die Gedanken Sind Frei" ... ... is an old song of protest that goes back to the German peasant wars of the 16th century "Die Gedanken Sind Frei" means "Our thoughts are free". Our Thoughts Are Free Die Gedanken sind frei My thoughts freely flower, Die Gedanken sind frei My thoughts give me power. No scholar can map them, No hunter can trap them, No man can deny: Die Gedanken sind frei! I think as I please And this gives me pleasure, My conscience decrees, This right I must treasure; My thoughts will not cater To duke or dictator, No man can deny-- Die Gedanken sind frei! And if tyrants take me And throw me in prison My thoughts will burst free, Like blossoms in season. Foundations will crumble, The structure will tumble, And free men will cry: Die Gedanken sind frei! Neither trouble or pain Will ever touch me again. No good comes of fretting, My hope's in forgetting. Within mysel...
Safin or Hewitt?? Well, I'm writing this watching the Australian Open final. Safin started very much off-colour and Hewitt outplayed him completely winning 6-1. The number of unforced errors that Safin has been committing is phenomenal. Safin came back in the second set very well and thought Hewitt made him work really hard, he managed to get the second one 6-3. The match has so far been a very emotional affair; both players have received warnings from the umpire. Right now, in the third set, Hewitt is on serve, leading 4-2. Safin continues to make unforced errors. Looking the way things are going now, looks like Hewitt would win this one. But every now and then Safin is coming up with flashes of sheer brilliance that could take him through. Something inside tells me that it's going to be Safin. But one can never tell. But it has been a while since I have seen such a good match.

Caves of Steel

Another typical Asimov novel - full of surprises and a great stimulant for the brain. It keeps you hooked on throughout and is full of twists and turns. This novel introduces R. Daneel Olivaw and Elijah Bailey who have become part of Asimov folklore now. Aah ... a nice read after a looong time :)
