The monk who sold his Ferrari

Frankly speaking, after I read this, I wish I had listened to what my grandma told me when I was small. That book is full of advise that parents and grandparents give you in the name of Hindu religion and culture.

Sinhagad

After almost 2 years I hiked up there. After a long time I listened to the wind, felt really good. The thing that I enjoyed the most, however, was silence. No sound of the TV, of "music" playing in my ears, no clickety-click of the keyboards, not annoying hum of machines that compute and most important, no sound of humans continuously chattering and driving you mad Missed a days football, but I guess it was worth it.

Slow dance

I read this poem in a mail that was actually a hoax. But its a good poem nonetheless. Slow dance - Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down Don't dance so fast Time is short The music won't last Do you run through each day on the fly When you ask "How are you?" do you hear the reply? When the day is done, do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores running through your head? You'd better slow down Don't dance so fast Time is short The music won't last Ever told your child, We'll do it tomorrow And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die 'Cause you never had time to call and say "Hi"? You'd better slow down Don't dance so fast Time is short The music won't last When you run so fast to get somewhere You miss half the fun ...

Tremours!

A cough and cold and general weakness had forced me to stay at home. I was half asleep and half trying to make sense of the number 42 when the fluid in my ears started swaying. It took some time to realise that other things around me were also swaying. This was the first time I had seen the walls of the house move and tilt and to be very frank, it scared the hell out of me. All that came later though. The first thing that I did on instinct was to get out of the bed and head towards the door of the house. There was this tremendous urge to just run and a lot of adrenaline was pumped out. The Floyd song "Take it back" comes to mind.

A footballing predicament

My goal scoring streak in the inter IT tournament has put me in a predicamennt. Basically because it hass ended. The balls that once sailed in are now hitting the post, the passes that came right to my feet are going a yard askew and the smoothly rolling ball that I once dispatched accurately now hits a bad spot on the ground just when I'm about to hit it. Not to mention that many balls that I ferociously hit head straight for the keeper. I've been wondering what has changed. The ground has changed. I must say that the ground on which the tournament was played was a much better one. The people with whom I play have changed. The position in which I play has changed. In the tournaments I played attacking centre midfield, by necessity. Now, I've gone back to the right wing. The ironic part is, myy team (whichever one it is) does much better with me on the wings. I guess the structure of the teams that I play for and against is very different to the one we had adopted during ...

Accident

Of late, I've got tired of answering the question "Where are your specs". Now I hope to just point to this URL. For the impatient, I broke it. In an accident. On my bike. For those who care more about me than my specs, I am perfectly fine and got away with a few scratches on the ankle. I was saved by the helmet when my head hit the road though. It's not my fault. It was raining (and now is certainly not the time for the rains) and the bike skidded when I braked. I let go of the bike and it ended a good 20 feet in front of me when everything came to a standstill. The bike suffered more damage than I did. The right mirror and the left fron indicator are broken (I know, wierd combination). But I'm alive and kicking (not the bucket). Hope to do some kicking over the weekend. Hope junta turns up at Univ United.
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perenn...
